Program Information The Bay Area Tutoring Centers, Inc. is a private tutoring center that offers individualized tutoring in math, science, English, language arts, History, Spanish and standardized test preparation. Our programs cover a variety of specific subjects, and each is designed to build study skills, self-confidence and general understanding. All programs have a maximum ratio of two students to one tutor. Some programs, as noted below, are one-on-one. Tutoring rates range from $45-$55 per hour. Mathematics – Our math programs include AP and advanced/honors courses, and cover the following subjects: arithmetic, pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, pre-Calculus, Calculus. Sciences – Our science programs include AP and advanced/honors courses, and cover the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Earth Science. English – Our English program covers the following subjects: reading comprehension, writing, grammar, language arts (including phonics), literature, AP English. All English programs are one-on-one. Social Sciences Our social sciences program covers the following subjects: Civics, World History, US History, AP US History, European History, AP European History. All Social Sciences programs are one-on-one. Spanish – Our Spanish program covers all aspects of Spanish and includes every level, from Spanish 1 through AP. Standardized Tests – We offer standardized test preparation for the following tests: PSAT, SAT I, SAT II, ACT, ERB, SSAT, ISEE, CAHSEE, Catholic High School entrance exams, GED. SAT/ACT Package Programs Purchase 30 sessions for the price of 24 (a 20% discount). This package includes 15 hours for math tutoring and 15 hours for verbal tutoring in either the SAT or ACT. Scheduling is flexible, and the tutor to student ratio is the same as our regularly priced tutoring. Add ACT prep to your SAT program (or vice versa) at a discount too! Purchase 10 sessions in addition to your SAT or ACT package (6 for English/Science and 4 for math) at 20% off. Tutoring Philosophy Our foremost goal is to provide a comfortable, confidence-building atmosphere where students can learn and excel in their subjects. In addition, we have worked hard over the years to create supplemental materials and curricula that mirror local school programs. Since our opening in 1988, we have developed close relationships with local schools that allow us to work within specific curricula and programs. These elements – combined with a knowledgeable, friendly staff of tutors – are what make our students successful. The Tutoring Center strives to provide the best possible service to our students and their families, and we are committed to the academic and personal success of each of our students. Our tutoring is therefore personalized to fit individual student needs. Many of our students benefit from long-term weekly appointments, but some may also come on a more short-term basis. We do not have contracts or session minimums, and there are no registration fees.
